Cape
Wrath - 20/11/2007
Tuesday,
our second day in Scotland,
was spent at Cape Wrath where
Blowlamp 51 flight, 15®Sqn
GR4s were booked in to play
with my good friend, Sgt
Andy Walker. Two of the
four aircraft were to carry
live 1000lb bombs and they
would release them on Garvie
Island.
This
was my second visit to the
range but sadly on this occasion
the weather was very poor.
The images below are posted
as testament to the guys doing
the flying. My apologies for
the lack of quality. It really
was that grim!

One
of the highlights of the following
day was chatting to the guys
doing the flying and being
shown the in-cockpit video
footage of the releases and
shows of force.
With
Blowlamp RTB, Scampi 93 flight
checked in to provide Emergency
Close Air Support to Andy.
As luck would have it (LOL!)
Andy decided that the target
was a building just behind
our location which meant the
pair of 111 Sqn F3s concerned
would have to run in over
our heads.

The
pictures are grim and don't
do justice to how impressive
this was! We found out the
following day that the Station
Commander from Leuchars was
flying in "DO".
With
nothing else booked we headed
back to Elgin.
Huge
thanks go to Sgt Andy Walker
for his hospitality and to
the crews for humouring us!
