Cobham
Hall - 20/04/2007
Following
on from our excellent tour
of RNAS Yeovilton, we were
met in the FAAM car park by
Richard Barlow, who would
be our guide for the visit
to the FAAM Reservce Collection
over the road (literally)
at Cobham Hall.
For
anyone who's not visited the
facility, this really is a
must see and IMHO deserves
to be a museum in its own
right. So many of the exhibits
are unique, and the ones that
aren't have quite a history
behind them.
VV106
- Supermarine 510 - predecessor
of the Swift.
VR137
- The only surviving Westland
Wyvern anywhere in the world.
Swept-wing
Sea Hawk.

XW864
- HRH Prince Andrew's personal
Gazelle whilst at 705 NAS.

XN334
- Saro P531.

Z2033
- Fairey Firefly used in spinning
trials.
XZ499
- SHAR with kills of an Argentine
Dagger and A-4B Skyhawk during
the Falklands conflict.
XK488
- Blackburn NA.39 - third
prototype for the Buccaneer.
And
the rest of the collection
present during the visit.

Sincere
thanks are extended to Richard
for taking the time to give
us the tour of this fascinating
facility.
