RAF
Coningsby - 30th June 2007
While
everyone else had attended
the previous day's 6 Sqn Enthusiast
Day, Wg Cdr Sullivan had invited
Sammy and myself to go along
the following day, to the
Squadron's friends and family
event.
Sadly,
the weather for the two days
could not have been much more
different! Grey skies all
the way to Coningsby, and
then just as the event got
underway the rain started
to fall....
A
nice little static display
had been arranged, along with
a few flybys during the day.
Sadly the BBMF's involvement
would be curtailed due to
the inclement weather.

One
of the main events of the
day was the presentation by
Smithy, on behalf of the Squadron,
of a mounted 'stick-top' to
JS.
In
his speech, Smithy stated
that in all his years on the
Jaguar, the force, ironically,
had never been better prepared
to go to war than it had under
JS's tenure.
The
biggest laugh of the day came
when he said that he'd have
happily gone to war with JS,
"If only to see how it
all panned out!".

One
of the non-aviation related
organisations present on the
day was a Jaguar car dealership
from Lincoln. With all the
activities wound down for
the day, JS took one for a
quick spin around the airfield.
Apparently Air Traffic didn't
know what to say when asked
if he could take a Jag down
the runway!!

Huge
thanks go to JS for the invite,
and to everyone else for helping
to make the two days such
a success.
