Corris
Corner - 02/08/2005
After
a disastrous first visit to
"Welsh Wales", a
return visit was on the cards,
with Lee Hellwing and Ashley
Wallace joining Sammy and
myself.
Not
really knowing where to go,
we lurked at the bottom of
the road until we saw some
activity, thus enabling us
to get a feel for where to
go. That activity was the
weather Hawk. After taking
a look at (what we now know
to be) Cad, we elected to
go a bit further round the
valley and ended up at Corris
Corner - not quite the spot
where most people go at this
location, but it did us OK.
After
a slow morning of a couple
of Hawks, all of which produced
'binners', the afternoon delivered
a little more!
First
up was a (then) FJ&WOEU
Harrier GR9 from Coningsby.

A
few more Hawks (including
some keepers!) past the lens
next.

But
the highlight of the day was
provided by the first of a
pair of Jaguars, this one
in 41 Sqn markings, and the
second, who went high, in
6 Sqn marks. I can't quite
remember why, but they came
through while Lee had gone
back to the car for something.
Doh! An important lesson was
learnt there and then!
We
stayed on the hill till 1800
but nothing else came by.
A
positively resounding success
compared to that earlier visit
and the appetite duly whetted
for some more of this type
of action!
