RAF
Cottesmore - 27/02/2008
Following
on from two excellent visits
at the backend of 2007, Matty
Jessop, Marcus
Jellyman and myself decided
we'd have another crack at
the sunsets.
The
morning wasn't expecially
busy, but the light was lovely.
I'd recently taken delivery
of a 2x Canon converter and
was using it with the Sigma
120-300mm f2.8 lens, thus
making it 240-600mm f5.6,
before the digital crop was
taken into consideration.
Whilst I came away with some
images I was happy with, the
general degardation in quality
means that it's not something
I will repeat too often. Worth
a try and an awful lot cheaper
than buying a 600mm fixed!

The
afternoon was considerably
busier and we were facing
the prospect of having nine
aircraft out in the time around
the 'golden' half hour.

I
finally caught up with IV(AC)Sqn's
90th anniversary kite.

Sadly
there was more cloud present
than ideal and the majority
of recoveries had already
taken place before the nice
colours started to appear
in the sky.

A
taste of what might have been....
It
is so rare for everything
to come together at the right
time at COT, but when it does
it's definitely worth the
effort. Sadly, this was one
of those occasions that didn't
quite work out...
