RAF
Kinloss - 19/11/2008
The
prospects for today were looking
bad from a very early stage
with 40kt winds forecast -
beyond limits for the successful
deployment of ejector seats
in fast jets. The sea state
was also of major concern.
Regardless,
the mission planning was still
undertaken.
The
Sentinel has to be hangared
in such winds and thanks to
WO2 Dave Carson, I was able
to spend some time with 5(AC)
Sqn and their aircraft while
it was being prepared for
the mission.

The
APU was started and the aircraft
crewed.

Before
it suddenly became obvious
that they'd be going nowhere...

The
wind didn't stop one of the
residents taking to the skies.

A
32(The Royal) Sqn BAe125 also
headed south.

Resting
on the ramp alongside the
Sentinel was this Chinook.

When
you attend an exercise in
the north of Scotland in the
middle of November you always
run the risk of the weather
not co-operating...
Hopefully
the next day would be better...
