RAF
Lakenheath - 17/06/2005
A
very hectic week saw the programme
roll on to Lakenheath to catch
the departure of the Illinois
ANG F-16s (plus a 'D' wearing
Texas flag markings) that
were transitting through on
their way back from an exercise
in Poland.
The
morning was overcast, so being
'down the lane' was the preferred
plan of attack, and we got
lucky with a few taxying across
to the northern to wait for
their wingmen.

As
is fairly normal for Lakenheath,
Friday's flying is usually
condensed into the morning
only, and with all of the
based stuff back on the deck
all that was left was for
the Vipers to head home.

Job
done! We headed back to Mildenhall
for a while but the place
was fairly quiet, so we called
it a day and headed home.
