London-Luton
- 5th August 2007
An
early finish to racing and
the promise of a plesant evening
drew us to Luton in the hope
of some sunset shots.
The
sun was already on the 'wrong'
side of the runway for the
crash gate when we arrived,
so we elected to try the field
underneath the approach. Light
was good and the angles weren't
too 'undersidey'.

As
the sun started to drop we
did move round to the aforementioned
crash gate. Another reason
for making the trip was that
I'd wanted to try out the
1.4x converter on the Canon
400mm f5.6 lens. While I knew
the AF wouldn't work, I still
thought it might be an interesting
experiment. Some of the close-ups
didn't work out too badly,
IMHO, though equally there
were a lot of binners too!
I saw enough to convince me
to get a 2x converter to use
with the Sigma 120-300mm f2.8
anyway!

As
is typical, the sunset that
I'd hoped for never really
materialised - killed by the
bank of cloud out to the north-west.
Even so it was still a pleasant
way to spend a summer's evening.
