Phoenix-Mesa
(Williams) Gateway, AZ, USA
- 24/01/2009
After
a decent morning at Sky
Harbor we
returned to Gateway for the
afternoon.
First
up with the sun shining, I
had to grab a few shots of
the preserved T-38.
As
we'd been advised by Jason
Hyatt by text on the way,
there were four VMA-513 "Nightmares"
AV-8s from MCAS Yuma waiting
for us - three AV-8B+ examples
and one regular AV-8B.

The
Allegiant traffic kept us
interested while we waited
for the Harriers to move.

Eventually
three of the four were crewed
up and departed for a local
mission, returning just over
an hour later.

After
a quick top up of the tanks,
all four then departed for
a weekend stop in Las Vegas...
With
the light failing we decided
we'd best get on and shoot
the other interesting frames
located around the airfield.
Unfortunately both the F-104
and the ATSI A-4s were parked
in fairly awkward positions,
so this was the best we could
manage.

Not
quite such a busy day as the
day before, but it was great
to get those Harriers in that
light.
