RAF Mildenhall - 19th December 2005

With the prospect of a few movements at Mildenhall, Ashley Wallace and myself headed over.

Morning activity was pretty good with a couple of C-17 departures, a number of resident 100th ARW KC-135R movements, and a very smart C-40B.

The plan for the afternoon had been to head over to Lakenheath to shoot some Eagles, but when their runway went 'black' for some reason, the remaining aircraft that were still out diverted into Mildenhall! Result!

In total seven 493rd FS jets and a single 494th FS F-15E diverted in. There was only one place to be for their afternoon departures; at the bottom of 'Alpha'!

That was a real bonus and a very nice early Christmas present!
