Phoenix-Sky
Harbor, AZ, USA - 24/01/2009
Armed
with some tips on where to
take pictures from at Sky
Harbor we headed down to Cutter
Aviation, where we'd heard
there was a balcony looking
out onto the apron. A quick
ask at the desk provided the
information that it'd been
closed, so we moved on to
the next spot on the list
- some elevated wasteland
off 40th Street.
Separating
us from the airport was a
dry river bed but the location
looked great. The only problem
was that the sun was obscured
by the cloud. It didn't take
long to clear though and before
we knew it we were shooting
US Airways after US Airways,
with the odd Southwest and
others thrown in.

Around
1100 the runways were switched
- not because of a change
of wind, but simply to minimise
the noise disruption on the
city. It didn't really work
for us, with the majority
of traffic now landing on
the runway on the other side
of the terminal building.

We
called it a day slightly earlier
than planned and made our
way to Gateway, via a brunch
stop at Jack In The Box :-)
