Stuttgart-Echterdingen
- 11th July 2008
Having
spent the morning back at
Heuberg for Exercise ELITE
2008 we headed back to the
airport for our return flight.
We were quite early so we
did some scouting around and
whilst doing so we spotted
a collection of old aircraft
on the roof of the terminal,
so that's where we headed!
For
€2.50 you could gain access
to the "Terrasse",
an area overlooking the main
apron and affording a close-up
view of the the aforementioned
'museum'. There's even a restaurant
and bar out there, and the
whole experience seemed quite
popular with the airport's
users.
A
thick barred 'fence' impedes
the view of the ramp, but
it's possible to pop your
lens through the bars. While
we there a nice mix of movements
ranging in size from 757s
down to GA, and nationalities
including Tunisia, Turkey,
Bulgaria and Macedonia all
moved.

With
our check-in time approaching
we quickly shot the preserved
airframes, and as luck would
have it, just in time before
the heavens absolutely opened!

Another
very pleasant, relaxed way
to kill an hour or two.
