Sywell - 21st August 2008

A busy day with not one, but two local airshow press previews! The first was at Sywell Aerodrome.

SYWELL AIRSHOW 2008 - PRESS RELEASE

On the 24th August 2008 the Airshow returns to Sywell Aerodrome,
promising a breath taking mixture of aeroplanes, helicopters, gliders,
jets, aerobatics and more!

This is the 80th anniversary show, (the first was in 1928) and is
guaranteed to be a superb day out for the family! Attractions include,
trade stalls, quad bikes, flight simulators, bouncy castle, military
vehicles, classic and racing cars, on site museum and an airfield attack!

Acts booked to appear include:

* The mighty v-bomber - Vulcan XH558
* The massive Catalina Flying Boat and Douglas DC6 airliner
* The classic WW2 fighters - the Spitfire, Mustang and P-40 Warhawk
chasing attacking Messerschmitts from the airfield with full pyrotechnics!
* Barnstorming 1930s biplanes, flying 'limbo' dropping flour bombs
and balloon bursting!
* The superb aerobatic Guinot wingwalking team with their Stearman
Biplanes
* A 1951 Vampire jet fighter- the first used at Sywell!
* A massed formation of First World War aircraft ending in a huge
dogfight!
* The resident 'Blades' formation display team perform astounding
feats of aerobatics at their home airfield!
* The Daleks will also invade Northamptonshire for the day!
* Plus SURPRISE acts to be revealed on the day

* Nearly 4 hours of flying displays and acts with loads to do for
all the family.

ALL IN AID OF THE WARWICKSHIRE AND NORTHAMPTONSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE!

The event saw practice displays from The Blades , a local photo sortie for two ladies from a local newspaper with the guys from Warbird Experiences, culminating with a couple of nice topside passes from the Harvard, the ever entertaining routine by Martin Lovell in the Skytech Helicopters Hughes 500E, and finally, my first opportunity to see G-FOKK, the Fokker DR1 Triplane replica of Jasta Binks Aviation LTD that's recently taken to the skies.
